Testimonies of Healing

I desire that this testimony should express in some degree my unceasing gratitude for the coming of Christian Science into my life. Shortly after I grew up, an experience occurred which I believed to be a healing through prayer, when one of my family was healed from a condition the doctor had pronounced hopeless; and this opened the way for me to accept without doubt or argument the teaching of Christian Science.

Christian Science has proved to me that "God is divine Life, and Life is no more confined to the forms which reflect it than substance is in its shadow" ( Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 331 ).

Christian Science was presented to me when everything looked very dark, and I knew not which way to turn. Since that time joy, peace, and harmony have been established in our home, and we have witnessed the healing of many physical ills, such as blood poisoning, bronchitis, constipation, frequent colds, burns, sick headaches, leakage of the heart, internal tumor, and bilious attacks.

For almost three years I was obliged to use a cane on account of a lameness caused by fracture of the pelvic bone and injury to the sciatic nerve, the results of a railroad accident. During the time mentioned I was examined by two reliable physicians, who stated that in their opinion I had tuberculosis.

[Original testimony in German] My two-year-old child had been ailing for three weeks, and often had a high temperature. The doctor who was called in could find nothing but swollen glands.

A feeling of deep gratitude to God prompts me to testify to the many blessings I have received in Christian Science. For the past sixteen years Christian Science has been my only physician.

I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, having always been quite well; but the character of a mother and her daughter whom I had in my business for a while interested me very much, and I thought, If Christian Science makes this kind of people, I want to know something about it. By taking every opportunity to ask questions about it of those who were interested, I soon learned to study by myself, and it was not long before my daughter and I joined a local church and also The Mother Church.

After studying Christian Science for nine years, and enjoying the beautiful testimonies of other students, I feel it is my duty and very great privilege to make a contribution. Many healings have been experienced, but I shall give only a few.

My first healing in Christian Science was of a paralytic condition of the bowels, for which I had tried many remedies recommended by physicians, but had received only temporary relief. An article from a Christian Science Sentinel so impressed me that I eagerly questioned a friend in regard to the teachings of Christian Science.

It is now nearly four years ago that, after undergoing several operations, I was given up by the doctors, Who told my parents I had at most six months more to live. As I was not able to eat or drink anything, I was fed artificially.
