Testimonies of Healing

With heartfelt thanks I send this testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. My work is dancing, and I have been wonderfully helped through Christian Science in the fulfilling of engagements.

In June, 1927, it seemed as if I were doomed to invalidism, and might become permanently mentally unbalanced, so many types of sickness held me in bondage. I had been considered delicate since childhood, and had been a great sufferer from headaches, from which I had gained only temporary relief through the use of narcotics or opiates—administered by well-meaning medical doctors.

I thank our dear Father-Mother God from the bottom of my heart that He led me to Christian Science, and that I found true the words, "When the need is greatest, God's help is nearest. " Our parents brought us up in a pious way and taught us of the power and goodness of God.

Since taking up the study of Christian Science I have had many wonderful demonstrations of the healing power of divine Love. Before I first heard of this beautiful truth I was suffering from a very serious bowel trouble for which I had been operated upon; but the operation was useless, for after twelve months' treatment the doctors informed me the disease was incurable, and that they could do no more for me.

In March, 1929, my mother asked me to bring her two books from the public library. The titles she gave me were somewhat vague, but I was able to obtain the right books: they were the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur.

I wish to express my gratitude for a healing I experienced. One afternoon, while skating, I tripped and fell on the ice.

A healing that has often awakened gratitude in me occurred a few months after my earnest study of Christian Science began. Having worked through the greater part of the summer, and thinking a rest from the office and noisy city was needed, I decided, upon the suggestion of the family, to visit a cotton plantaion located several miles outside a small town.

My first healing in Christian Science took place years ago. I was then suffering from intestinal catarrh in its most pernicious form.

After thirteen years of study in Christian Science, having had many healings through it, I feel that I must express some of my gratitude to God for His loving care, which, through Mrs. Eddy's life and works, has been made available for me and for all mankind.

As an expression of gratitude to God, to whom all honor is due, I wish to testify to the following healing which took place in my home, giving me a clear proof of the healing power of Christian Science. Our little son, aged six, came home from school and complained of being sick.
