Testimonies of Healing
My first impression of Christian Science filled me with antagonism and resentment toward Mrs. Eddy, and toward those who found interest in what she had written.
For years I had known there was such an organization as the Christian Science church, but I knew nothing of its teachings. Then I was told of the healing of one whom I had long known.
I am so grateful for what Christian Science has done for me and mine that I should like to add my testimony, hoping it will help someone as others have so often helped me. Over two years ago I was taken with a severe pain in my side.
It is not so often in our hours of ease that we gain the clearest understanding of God's healing, saving power, as in those testing times when error is screaming its loudest, endeavoring to destroy the Christ-idea. This has been true through all the ages, as well as in modern times, and it was true in my experience.
I feel that the time has come when I should publicly express my gratitude to God and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for Christian Science. I have been a student of this Science for five years, and in this short time it has brought about a marvelous change in my life.
Over nineteen years ago I was healed through one week's absent treatment in Christian Science of so-called hereditary asthma, from which I had suffered since a very young girl. There has been no return of this trouble.
I wish gratefully to acknowledge one of the many blessings I have received through Christian Science. Some time ago a felon came on one of my fingers as a result of a severe bruise.
With gratitude I bear record to the healing power of Christian Science. In times of great need the realization of true supply has always enabled me to demonstrate "our daily bread" for myself and others.
I first learned of Christian Science through the healing of a brother, and the proof was so conclusive it convinced me that there must be some truth in it. Although I did not take up the study at once, I was no longer satisfied with the old way of thinking; and when, several years later, I found myself alone in a strange city, homesick and discouraged, like the prodigal son I said, "I will arise and go to my father; " and it was then that I turned to Christian Science for help and comfort.
Over twenty years ago I was led into Christian Science through the passing on of a niece who had begged for Christian Science treatment, but was refused it because this religion was not understood. An operation was performed from which she never regained consciousness.
