
Testimonies of Healing
As my whole life has been transformed and happified by Christian Science, I should like through my testimony to express, at least in part, my gratitude for the many blessings which I have received. At the age of fourteen a condition of blood poisoning led to a serious illness, which affected my heart.
Freedom — out of the darkness and bondage of fear into God's glorious sunlight! This has been my experience, just as it has been the experience of countless numbers of Christian Scientists. All my early life I was a sufferer from inflammatory rheumatism, fainting spells, and frequent attacks of tonsillitis.
It may be of interest that previous to my taking up Christian Science, religion played no part in my daily life. Owing to my education I felt rather ashamed to have a special interest in religion.
About thirteen years ago through curiosity I began reading the Christian Science Lesson-Sermons from my stepmother's books. From the very first I was interested in the just views of God that Mrs.
Words cannot express my gratitude for Christian Science, and for the many ministrations which I have received through it. My first experience, which I am about to relate, stands out as wonderful.
One day on my way to make a call, it was necessary for me to go down rather a long, steep hill, and quite suddenly I sprained my ankle. The pain seemed almost unbearable, but these inspiring words from the Bible came to me as a sufficient guide: "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Out of a heart full of gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, and to Mrs. Eddy, the God-inspired woman who has given "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" with its wonderful revelation of the truth about God and man to all humanity, this testimony is given.
It is with a heart full of gratitude that I take this occasion to testify to what Christian Science has done for me. From my earliest recollection I had been troubled with constipation; and as I grew older hemorrhoids developed.
Seventeen years ago, while in New York city, I turned to Christian Science for help when all material remedies had failed. I was told by physicians never to be without a certain powerful medicine for my heart; and whenever these attacks came, I always called a physician, who gave me a hypodermic injection.
In the autumn of 1918 I was healed of influenza by the right application of Christian Science. I asked alms "at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful," and was instantly healed.
