Testimonies of Healing
Sixteen years ago I was given the opportunity to become a Christian Scientist, but, while much in need of healing, my thoughts were so full of criticism, especially toward Mrs. Eddy, that after reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and taking a few treatments, I rejected it with scorn.
When Christian Science came to me I seemed hopelessly adrift upon the sea of materiality, without anything upon which to anchor. I had given up going to church and had exhausted medicine.
I wish to express my thankfulness to God for all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science and to tell of a few of the healings that have come to me and mine. About four years ago Christian Science was presented to me, but I was not ready for it.
About twenty years ago, I fell from a window on the second floor of a burning building to the pavement, striking on my back, which was severely injured. I was treated by some of the best physicians in the eastern part of the United States, without any relief from the pain or curving of the spine.
The realization of God's love, through the teachings of Christian Science, has freed me from a very painful trouble. Some time ago I suffered from neuralgia, which caused me severe pain.
I have received so much good from the testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel that I should like to add mine. My occupation is grinding on an emery wheel.
For the past six years Christian Science has been my only physician and has met my every need. It is therefore with gratitude and rejoicing that I bring this tithe into the storehouse of Truth so that it may bear witness to the efficacy and healing power of Christian Science.
Several years ago I was led to investigate Christian Science, and gradually there has taken place in my consciousness such an eradication of material beliefs that my outlook on life has entirely changed. I had become dissatisfied with my old theological teaching, and had long been searching for something better.
It is with a heart full of gratitude that I give the following testimony. I have been interested in Christian Science since the summer of 1918 and have proved its power and received many blessings, all of which are very wonderful, and in the old way of thinking I should have said, "too good to be true," but I know now that the only things that are true are the good things.
It is a privilege to express my gratitude for Christian Science through our periodicals. In 1906, after an illness extending over several years, and after going to the limit with materia medica and surgery, I was led to the study of Christian Science through the life of a dear friend.
