Testimonies of Healing

I wish to testify to what Truth has done for me. I did not become interested in Christian Science through physical healing.

I am very grateful for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. One evening last summer while my little boy was playing with his comrades on the street, he was struck by a runaway team.

Christian Science came to me in an hour of great need, when everything seemed dark, both from a spiritual and physical standpoint. In August, 1895, my husband's health began to fail, and he was obliged to give up his business.

It has long been in my thought to say a word of loving gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. Brought up a minister's daughter, with an orthodox creed which I outlined even more severely for myself than did my parents for me, my religion was of little practical value, for I was at the same time in a most terrible bondage to fear of sickness.

I Came under Christian Science treatment four years ago, at a time when those most interested in me felt that there was nothing left to be done. For ten years I had been an invalid,—first one organ became affected and then another, until there seemed to be no part of my body exempt from suffering.

I have been benefited so much by Christian Science, that I feel it a duty as well as a pleasure to give my testimony. After years of acquaintance with materia medica I have found that Christian Science treatment affords me more reliable protection from physical maladies, while at the same time it brings health and peace of mind, which is of even greater importance.

It is now nearly twelve years since Christian Science was brought to my notice. I was being sent to California to see what a change of climate would do for me.

I became interested in Christian Science some two years ago through an experience of the healing power of the Christ-truth in destroying for me internal troubles which had baffled the physicians for some time. They said both kidneys were floating and that nothing short of an operation could give me any help, that there would have to be two incisions made, and that it would cost me five hundred dollars without the hospital fee.

I have hesitated for a long time to write to the Journal for the reason which no doubt many others have,—the seeming inability to find words to express the bountiful blessings which have come to me, and which I could never have known had not "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" been given us by our Leader. By its teaching I have been raised up from death's door.

Three years ago last November I came to Christian Science for physical healing when all material remedies had failed. During the summer I had teen to a hospital in Kansas City two different times, to be operated upon for ovarian trouble, appendicitis, and a floating kidney.
