Testimonies of Healing
About ten years ago Science came to me when I needed it most, for the doctors said I was dying of consumption, and that nothing more could be done for me. One lung was entirely gone, the other nearly so, and I was little more than a bundle of bones, and could neither eat nor sleep.
For a number of years past my life has been so blessed through the teachings of Christian Science, that I want to add my testimony to that of the ever-increasing multitude who acknowledge its benign influence. Science has enabled me to overcome, by the sole application of its rules of practice, many cases of sickness, fear, accident, and to show marked progress in general health and capacity for work, in spite of a constitution generally termed delicate.
Through loving obedience alone can I express my gratitude for the many blessings received through the knowledge and application of Christian Science. I have seen many forms of disease healed through the applied knowledge of this grand truth.
I cannot enumerate the blessings I have received through Christian Science during my five years' experience, for they seem more in number than the sands of the sea. I was led to try Christian Science for the healing, and was not only relieved from my physical troubles, but I also found the truth that makes all free.
I have been benefited so much by Christian Science, that I desire to give my testimony to the healing power of Truth. Three and a half years ago I was a mental and physical wreck.
I wish to bear witness to some of the many blessings which Christian Science has brought to me. I want to give the experience, "the falling apple," that led me to put into immediate use the law of Truth, which enabled me to overcome the use of tobacco, intoxicants, and profanity.
It is five years since I was first healed by Christian Science of many physical and mental discords, having been in constant pain many years. I was out of tune with all my surroundings; being sensitive, I was always taking offence, but usually concealed this condition.
Error has kept me from testifying to my gratitude for the revelation of Truth which has come to me through Christian Science. For years I was haunted by a desire to enter the ministry, though I had been made a lawyer by the decision of my grandfather and my mother.
When my husband, two years ago, turned to Christian Science, as a last resort, I was at that time going regularly, three times a week, to a physician for the treatment of chronic nasal catarrh, which I had had from birth. All the twenty odd years of my life I had been to physician after physician nearly every day in the week for treatment.
In December, 1901, I took upon myself the profession of a follower of Christian Science. Our text-book says, "Unimproved opportunities will rebuke us when we suddenly claim the benefits of an experience we have not made our own, try to reap the harvest we have not sown, and wish to enter unlawfully into the labors of others.
