Testimonies of Healing
Some time ago, I found myself unable to walk or sit without great discomfort in my legs. With my legs straight out on an ottoman, I managed to mentally hold to truths about my spiritual relation to our Father-Mother God.
Several years ago, over a period of time, the appearance and function of my right hand deteriorated. I’ve found Christian Science to be the most effective healing method, and I rely on it for all my needs.
Several years after my husband and I were married, we were looking forward to having a family. When we were expecting our first child, the baby arrived nearly four months early and did not survive.
It is with great gratitude, awe, and joy that I write this testimony. Throughout my life I have always read the Christian Science periodicals starting from the back so that I could read the testimonies of healing first.
One weekend about a year ago, I was planning to go to a family party and decided to get a professional pedicure beforehand. The salon attendant who took care of me suddenly became disoriented and accidentally cut my foot with a sharp tool.
Many years ago when we moved house into the countryside, our new property included several acres of woodland. My primary employment at that time was as a partner in a firm of chartered accountants, so involvement in woodland management was to be very much a part-time activity, but I was keen to learn best practices, and part of this expectation was to learn how to use a chain saw correctly.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” ( Proverbs 3:5, 6 ).
A few months ago I felt nauseous and became ill. My fear was that I would faint, and although I was at home, there would be no one around to help me.
When our first baby was born, the doctor said something was wrong with her, and he would have to operate the next morning. I asked my husband to phone the Christian Science practitioner who had been supporting me through the pregnancy and the birth, and let her know something wasn’t right with our baby.
“I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints” ( Psalms 85:8 ). The words of the Psalmist have been a constant guide to me in my growth as a student of Christian Science, and have often been a helpful impetus in being more effective in my healing practice.
