Testimonies of Healing

The teaching of Christian Science was well known to me by name, but I first learned of its divine power in an internment camp. It is with great gratitude for the numberless blessings I have received with the aid of a practitioner that I should like to testify to a healing of particular significance which exemplifies the blessings of divine Truth more than anything else could.

I am deeply grateful for the understanding gained through Christian Science of home as the kingdom of God within us— within spiritual understanding. Christ Jesus has said ( Luke 17:20, 21 ),"The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

In mathematical computations wrong answers are the results, not of any flaw in the governing rule or law, but of ignorance of such rule or law or improper application of it. The right answer is always assured through correct knowledge and application of a rule or law governing any situation, be it mathematical or otherwise.

With sincere gratitude to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and to Christian Science I am prompted to relate a healing that I experienced many years ago, when I was fourteen. I developed what medical science called the gout, a most unusual disease for a young person.

The first line of the first hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal reads, "Be Thou, O God, exalted high. " In the hearts of Christian Scientists and in their testimonies appearing in the Christian Science publications God is, indeed, exalted high, for many, like myself, have had ample proof of the life-giving and health-giving power of this great religion.

After thirty years of enjoying the benefits of Christian Science, it is time I expressed my appreciation in a testimony for our periodicals. Although I did not come to Science for physical healing, but for relief from worry, limitation, and lack, I have had many healings, and to me the most remarkable was that of tuberculosis.

I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing. It was the result of a long search for Truth.

There have been many healings in our family through Christian Science treatment. Some of the conditions healed were of a minor nature; others were considered serious.

I cannot find words to express my deep gratitude to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving us this most practical religion, Christian Science. I could not get on without it.

In the religious article on The Home Forum page of The Christian Science Monitor for December 10, 1947, the writer stated, "The importance of Mrs. Eddy's discovery lay in her ability to translate divine law to human comprehension.
