Testimonies of Healing

With gratitude to God I wish to give thanks for the understanding gained through the study of Christian Science. I can sincerely say that this Science is the healing power of Truth to all the peoples of the world who are willing to give it a proper trial.

"Every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened" ( Matt. 7:8 ).

[Original testimony in German] After our only son had suffered from a suppurating inflammation of the middle ear, first at the age of four and again at the age of six, he was attacked a third time with this complaint at the age of eight, this time so severely that neither our family doctor nor a specialist was able to cope with the disease. Weeks of confinement to a sickbed in a warm room had so weakened the child that my wife and I felt there was no prospect of improvement.

I became interested in Christian Science through a neighbor who held a Sunday School class in her home. I was allowed to attend, as my mother had been healed by this Science some years before and it was regarded highly by the family.

The simple dignity and grandeur of Christian Science Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings have always been an inspiration to me in many trials. Therefore I am grateful to be able to testify to the efficacy of Christian Science.

When about nine years old, I first heard the words Christian Science. I lived in a little English village, and often the vicar and the minister would have weighty talks together with a learned man who sat daily in a sunny corner of his garden.

"Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift" ( II Cor. 9:15 ).

In gratitude to God for His precious gift of Christian Science and to Mary Baker Eddy, through whose spiritualized consciousness it was revealed to this age, I send this testimony. From early childhood I had worn glasses and suffered from headaches, which the oculist said were normal with sight such as mine.

Although I was not attracted to Christian Science because of the need for any physical healing, for many years it has been my only physician, as the study of the Bible and the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, has revealed to me that this Science is a way of life adequate to meet every need.

Over twenty nine years ago, while I was searching for medical relief through prominent physicians and waiting for the verdict that I might have to submit to an operation, Christian Science came to my attention. A sister in law, who had been healed of lumbago, invited me to attend church with her.
