Testimonies of Healing

I am very grateful that I grasped the teachings of Christian Science presented to me during many years of attendance at the Christian Science Sunday School. Through the application of the truths I learned there I have been enabled to pass many milestones in my journey from sense to Soul.

Many years ago I became dissatisfied with my church affiliation because I had observed that my prayers, earnestly made in conformity with my highest understanding, were not answered. At this time a friend urged me to take up the study of Christian Science and lent me the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.

This testimony of my healing many years ago by Christian Science should have been shared before now. Previous to my acquaintance with Christian Science or Christian Scientists, I had been studying my Bible and praying for understanding and assurance of its truthfulness.

Christian Science came to our family during my early childhood, and through its protective power I was shielded from all but one of the so-called children's diseases. At the time my mother took up the study of Science, a mild case of chicken pox was quickly healed through the help of a practitioner.

[Original testimony in German] I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings I have experienced in Christian Science. As a young man I suffered from chronic stomach trouble, and despite years of medical treatment I did not regain my health.

SOME sixteen years ago I was a victim of osteomyelitis as the result of blood poisoning, and every few years found me back in the hospital. Finally in the fall of 1946 I became thoroughly discouraged when the condition returned in one of my ankles.

When the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the major written work of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, was placed in my hands, I read the beautiful first chapter, on Prayer, and accepted its teaching without reservation. At another time for about one hour I read at random throughout the book.

To have a knowledge, even in small degree, of the Science of being as taught in Christian Science is my greatest blessing. Therefore, to my Father-Mother God I owe the love and trust that know no faltering; to Christ Jesus I owe a steadfast endeavor to follow in the way he has shown to humanity ; to Mary Baker Eddy I owe the recognition of her great work, the discovery and founding of Christian Science and the writing of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Christian Science was presented to me at a time when I was lonely, unhappy, discouraged, and in much pain from inflammatory rheumatism. It took some time for me to overcome prejudice against what I thought this Science stood for.

Christian Science came into our home when we children were quite small. My mother was awaiting the arrival of another baby, and the doctor informed her that she was in grave danger and that the child could not be born alive.
