Words could never sufficiently express my gratitude to God for all the blessings that have come into our home, to me and to my family, through the study and application of Christian Science. My first healing was of chronic rheumatism, which took place while I was reading the chapter on Prayer in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. As I continued to read and study the textbook, and my spiritual understanding of God and man became clearer, I was healed of two internal troubles of many years' standing. God has been most gracious, kind, and good to us. I have five grandchildren, and not one of them knows the taste of medicine; nor have they known of any other healing agency than Christian Science. I read the textbook daily, and have an absolute assurance that Christian Science is God's healing and saving power to all mankind in this age, and this gives me great cause for rejoicing and thanksgiving.
About two weeks after taking up the study of Christian Science we had a wonderful proof of its healing and protecting power. Our youngest child, a boy nine years old at that time, was playing in the back yard. The day before, he and several other boys had been setting off firecrackers, and quite a number of them had not exploded. He raked them all together in a pile and then put a match to them, at the same time standing right over them. They exploded in his face, and he was completely blinded. He crawled into the kitchen where I was attending to my household duties and exclaimed that he could not open his eyes. The words from our textbook, on page 16, "Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious," came to me and I realized as best I could the truth they contained. In a few minutes he opened his eyes—was healed, and said that God was good to him. I told him to go and wash the dirt from his face and not to forget to thank God for healing him.
I could write pages of the many proofs we have had in our home of the healing and saving power of Christian Science. I rejoice to say, as Jesus did, "I can of mine own self do nothing," and, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." In closing, I should like to express my gratitude to God for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science; for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church; and for all the activities of The Mother Church.—Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
