[Original testimony in French]

In 1919 I heard Christian Science...

From the January 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In 1919 I heard Christian Science spoken of for the first time. It was brought to me by a young American soldier, a Christian Scientist, whose company was stationed in my town. During our first conversation I was healed of a sore throat from which I had suffered for several days; and I could not tell of all the blessings my family and I have received from Christian Science since then.

My husband, whom I deeply loved, passed on in October, 1926. My family did not think I would be able to bear the separation, but I was wonderfully helped by Mrs. Eddy's declaration in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 429), "Mortals waken from the dream of death with bodies unseen by those who think that they bury the body." What a consolation for me to know that the sense of separation is an unreal sense!

One evening in January, 1927, I was holding on my left arm my grandson, a year old, and with my right hand carrying a lighted lamp. The child seized the glass of the lamp and burned his hand. He cried, writhing in pain. I immediately realized that his real spiritual selfhood was the reflection of God, hence evil could not touch him. The child stopped crying at once, and began to laugh and play. In January, 1928, the same child was burned again. The burn was large, and he was suffering a great deal. I declared the truth and the pain ceased instantly, as it had done the preceding year.
