With the hope that my experience may be helpful, I am gladly sending my testimony. As the result of a so-called law of heredity, my mother having passed on with the disease, I had suffered many months from lung trouble. Deep breathing exercises did not give the desired strength, and the time came when a severe condition of congestion appeared. Material means offered no hope, so I turned to Christian Science.
A practitioner was called, and one treatment resulted in a much improved condition. The gain was steady; but the final healing came slowly. Many hours were spent in prayerful desire to have removed from thought the error that was hindering. In due time it was clearly seen that I was seeking physical healing rather than the understanding of Truth, and that the real need was a change of thought and motive. The desire to understand and know more about God and His creation became my one and only motive, and I began to practice these words of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 261): "Look away from the body into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality." At this point the healing was immediate, complete, and permanent.
I am increasingly grateful for Christian Science, for the loving and patient work of the practitioner, and for this experience which has proved the truth of Jesus' words, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."— Hollywood, California.
