I was brought up in a very strict home. Ritual and creed formed our religion, and we were not encouraged to think for ourselves. On the first page of our textbook, Science and Health, our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says (Pref., p. vii), "The time for thinkers has come." It was not until many years after I was married that I began to think for myself about religion.
Through a friend I took up the study of psychology and new-thought, and inquired into several other cults, but none of them satisfied me. Eventually, divine Love led me to the teachings of Christian Science, where I found the "pearl of great price"— reality. I am most sincerely grateful that I have found Christian Science, which wholly satisfies me.
Christian Science is pure and impersonal. When I first attended a Sunday service, it was the impersonal nature of the whole service which so deeply impressed me. It was free from any man-made sermon; all that was read was the Bible and the Christian Science textbook. I am trying to understand that impersonal truth is our only preacher, healer, savior, and redeemer.
