Those who are familiar with the Old Testament will readily recall the story of the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem recorded in the second and succeeding chapters of the book of Nehemiah.
In this record it is said that after the prophet called attention to the dilapidated condition of the wall, the people said, "Let us rise up and build." The record continues, "So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work." But when the enemies of Judah saw that the wall was being rebuilt, they "conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it." Then the record states: "Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief. And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?" The story concludes: "So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days. And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down: . . . for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God."
Christian Scientists are today engaged in a great building enterprise. They are building a movement which was designed by their Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, to carry the healing message of Christ, Truth, to the uttermost parts of the earth, thus to comply with the command of Christ Jesus, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
