I should like to express my gratitude to God for the revelation of Christian Science, as set forth in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
Through the reading of this textbook I was healed of the need of wearing glasses, which I had had to use for eyestrain and for headaches. While I was cleaning them one day, they broke in my hand. Words from Science and Health (p. 233) came to my thought: "Every day makes its demands upon us for higher proofs rather than professions of Christian power. These proofs consist solely in the destruction of sin, sickness, and death by the power of Spirit, as Jesus destroyed them. This is an element of progress, and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil." It never even occurred to me to get out another pair of glasses which I had by me, for I knew I should not need them.
I am grateful for the loving practitioners, who are ever ready to help when the need arises. One day at the office where I was employed, I suddenly felt nauseated. I realized the need for help, and was just able to get to the telephone in the other room, but could barely make the operator understand to whom I wished to speak. I told the practitioner I had been overcome by carbon monoxide gas. His clear, positive statement that God was my Life instantaneously healed me. Within an hour, I was able to go out on an errand. The telephone operator, who was in the same room at the time, was also healed. The windows had to be broken in order to dispel the poisonous gas.
