Having received so much benefit from reading the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals, I should like to give mine. The many years that I have been trying to be a Christian Scientist have helped me to be a better woman.
I did not begin to study Christian Science for healing, but because it seemed to me to be the most logical religion that I had ever heard of, and because it gave me a better understanding of God and my relationship to Him. The woman who told me about it was living a pure and unselfish life. That fact helped me to continue with the reading of the textbook. She said, "God is the only power," whereas I was looking to many gods for power.
As I have studied the Bible and our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and her other writings, I have gained in some degree an understanding of the truth of being. It is my prayer that I may grow a little each day until I come into a full understanding of my real being as God's perfect idea. The first words that impressed me in Science and Health on page 449 were: "A grain of Christian Science does wonders for mortals, so omnipotent is Truth, but more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing;" and also the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer, given on pages 16 and 17. The spiritual meaning of many Scriptural passages has unfolded to me so that now I understand them. I had always thought that God healed the sick, but I did not know how to reach Him.
