"And he went a little further, and fell on his face and prayed." — Matthew 26:39.
Jesus "went a little further;"
Thus too may we
Reach out beyond the veil
Of apathy.
He rose to take his steps
Beyond the mist;
Along the way of life
The cross he kissed!
And all the way he loved —
Not only those
Who understood him best.
And as he rose —
Beyond the cross, the tomb —
Love swept the frown
Of hate away, and held
For him the crown.
