Testimonies of Healing

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and...

From the July 1947 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases" (Ps. 103:2, 3). I am truly grateful for Christian Science. One of my first healings was wonderful to me. For several years before knowing of this Science I had a great fear of being caught in the rain, for afterwards I always had a cold and cough that lasted many weeks. After one of these colds my tonsils had had to be removed.

Three months before the birth of our second baby our family physician told my husband that one of my lungs was in very bad condition and the other was affected. I thought I should never get up again. It was recommended that I be sent to a sanatorium, but I realized we were not financially able to take this step. We had a little girl two years old, and as I watched her play about the room I reasoned that God never intended that I should have to be separated from her.

Having been reared by my grandfather, who was a minister in an orthodox church, I had always reverenced God and believed He would help us through trials. I prayed to Him, and when the baby arrived the doctor said it was perfectly normal and asked me what I had been taking. I told him cod liver oil, for I was afraid to say that God was helping me. During the next two years, however, I was only able to do my work by taking things easy and using much medicine.
