In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 135): "There is to-day danger of repeating the offence of the Jews by limiting the Holy One of Israel and asking: 'Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?' What cannot God do?" Over a period of nearly thirty years I have found that there is nothing God cannot and will not do if we turn unreservedly to Him.
While I was in high school the attending physician told our family there was no hope for my mother, who had tumors. Several years before, she had had an operation for this condition and thereafter had received various treatments to delay its return; but the physician admitted nothing more could be done. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and my mother was healed. Later a large swelling appeared on her throat, which some called goiter. Whenever anyone mentioned the appearance my mother would state it was nothing. None of us knew when the swelling disappeared, but soon her throat was entirely normal.
It would seem that I would have accepted Christian Science when my mother was healed, but it was not until my own daughter was born that I began to study and attend church services. The child was healed of constipation through the help of a practitioner; and this was very wonderful to me, for material methods had failed.
