Truth is its own defense. Nothing can ever cause it to cease being true; nothing can diminish by one degree its strength or its immortality. Truth will continue to be true when every falsity raised against it has long since been forgotten. Mankind, however, needs to defend itself against believing that there can be any power, intelligence, or substance in that which would contend against Truth. Furthermore, it needs to defend from disruptive influences those institutions which provide means for Truth to be perceived and understood.
In our age the highest concept of Truth has come through Christian Science, which is the final revelation of Truth because it reveals Truth, or God, as all-inclusive reality. It is the essence of spiritual truth promised by the Master, Christ Jesus, when he said (John 14: 16, 17), "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth."
The Discoverer and Founder of this Science, Mary Baker Eddy, has established the Christian Science movement to protect and disseminate her discovery. It is the privilege and duty of every Christian Scientist to uphold and defend this great Cause, not only for the sake of the movement, but for the protection of his own interests as well. None of us wish to be deprived of our right to worship God through the understanding of clear, unadulterated metaphysics, revealed by our Leader and safeguarded by the organization which she established for that purpose.
