I should like to share an experience that proved the healing efficacy of Christian Science. One morning I awoke in excruciating pain and found that I was unable to use my limbs from the waist down. Not wanting to alarm my family, I dragged myself to the telephone and called a practitioner for help.
When I related the situation to the practitioner, her comforting replies of truth brought peace and calm to my fearful consciousness, and I began to realize the omnipresence of God and of man's inseparability from Him. I returned to my bed, where I remained the entire clay, using every waking moment to pour into thought the truths of Christian Science, found in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. On page 463 I read, "There is a law of God applicable to healing, and it is a spiritual law instead of material." This statement aroused me to make declarations that God's law is in operation, that God is the only presence and power, that I was inseparable from divine Principle, and that I was the perfect, spiritual idea of God, incapable of manifesting anything that was unlike Him. That night I was free and gloriously grateful.
Later, suggestions of pain clamored for recognition at different times, but the thought came to me, Oh, this is nothing compared to what the condition was; I can tolerate this. Had I dismissed the erroneous suggestions from consciousness with an acknowledgment of absolute truth, the pain would have disappeared, but I was satisfied with greater ease in matter.
