Christian Science has protected me and provided me with a chart and compass for guidance through the mazes of human problems for many years. With gratitude to God for Christ Jesus, who gave us Christianity, and for Mary Baker Eddy, who through her textbook, Science and Health, gave us the Science of Christianity, I wish to share a few of my blessings.
In my high school years I wore special lenses for a serious eye trouble. The oculist had advised an operation but said it might not be successful. Preparing to leave home for the study of music in a distant city, I was unable to find my glasses in time for the train on which I had reservations. I took the journey, asking that the glasses be mailed to me; but they were never found.
I was unable to read my music, and the prospect of getting other thick-lensed glasses was disturbing to me. I had heard of Christian Science, and now I knew I wanted to find out more about it; so I purchased the Bible and the textbook at a Reading Room. That experience was the turning point in my life. I found myself able to read Science and Health without glasses, and the illumination that came to me from the first reading of that priceless book was like a brilliant light. It brought spiritual vision, and I was healed of the eye difficulty.
