In "Miscellaneous Writings" Mrs. Eddy says (p. 151), "God is our Father and our Mother, our Minister and the great Physician: He is man's only real relative on earth and in heaven." For over twenty-five years the realization of the truth contained in this statement has helped to maintain harmony in our home, served as a guide in our daily affairs, and brought about many physical healings.
When I began the study of Christian Science, the light suddenly dawned in my consciousness that here was the real truth for which I had been searching. I realized that the writings of Mrs. Eddy, interpreting the spiritual significance of the Bible, are just as surely the result of divine inspiration as are the thoughts expressed in the Bible itself.
Shortly after this a testing time came when a member of the family was stricken with what was apparently acute appendicitis. We knew then that the day of decision had arrived as to whether we should place our reliance on Christian Science or allow fear to drive us into the use of material means for healing. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and we were asked to realize that discord must and does yield to Truth. Within a few hours all indications of the appendicitis disappeared, and they did not return.
