It is with much joy and gratitude that I testify to the healing and regeneration brought into my experience through the study and application of Christian Science. I became interested in this Science more than thirty years ago, when we were living for a short while with my husband's aunt. I noticed that she daily studied some books early in the morning and after the other members of the household had gone to bed at night. When I asked her about this, she lent me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading the chapter on Prayer, I knew that its teachings were good and that I wanted to know more of them. Very soon after this I purchased the textbook for myself.
One of my first healings, that of constipation, came through the help of a Christian Science practitioner. Later I again felt the healing touch of Truth after calling upon a practitioner for help for influenza. While visiting my parents, who were not Christian Scientists, I became ill with this disease about two months before our first child was born. My father became so concerned about me that I finally asked him to call a practitioner, who came to see me and very lovingly declared the truth of God and man. I recall how impressed I was with the fact that I had recovered, with no aftereffects, so much quicker than my brother, who had also been ill with the same disease and who had depended on medical help.
Although I experienced these healings, I did not earnestly study and apply Christian Science until several years later. However, the seed of Truth had been sown in my consciousness, and I was led to enroll our two boys in the Sunday School. I then attended the church services and began the study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Much goodness and progress have unfolded during the years since that time.
