Testimonies of Healing

My first healing in Christian Science was...

From the June 1954 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My first healing in Christian Science was so wonderful that I should like to tell about it with the hope that it will help others. While I was riding in a small truck it somehow locked a front wheel in the rear bumper of a larger truck going in the opposite direction. The truck I was in overturned, and I was pinned under the front end of it. I was carried into a nearby house, where I regained consciousness just long enough to tell someone my home telephone number. An ambulance took me to the nearest hospital, and I was put to bed to await the arrival of a doctor who had been summoned to care for me.

When the doctor arrived he ordered me taken to the X-ray room, where it was determined that my collarbone was broken in three places, five ribs were broken, a bone splinter was dangerously near my heart, and another bone splinter was piercing my right lung, which was deflated. The doctor said that he could do nothing that would help me. He ordered the nurse to put an ice pack over my lung and then left. The ice pack was left on too long and pneumonia set in.

My wife was allowed to come to the hospital, and one day she suggested that we call a Christian Science practitioner. Although I was not a Christian Scientist, I agreed to this, mostly because the doctor could do nothing for me.
