When our children were ready for an explanation of God I was not ready to give it. I reached out to God in prayer to reveal to me the right concept of Himself to give the children, and in several weeks Christian Science was presented to me. Previously I had often wished that I could take my little family to a place where there was no contagion, accident, nor disease. I have since learned that I do not have to go somewhere to find harmony; all I have to do is to know the truth that frees from error. How very grateful I was to learn that we do not have to have trouble, that God is good, and that He sends only good to His children.
At the time I registered the children in the Christian Science Sunday School I was crying. I explained to the superintendent that we had to find an apartment and no one wanted to rent to couples with children. Her answer was, "There is a place for you, dear." I had never heard such confidence and love expressed. While I attended the Christian Science church service that day, a place which was near a Church of Christ, Scientist, and its Reading Room was shown to my husband. The landlady was a Christian Scientist, and we were soon happily settled in our new home. I knew then that Christian Science was the only way for us. Within a year I became a member of the branch church, and a whole new world opened up for us. Our children went to a school for the sons and daughters of Christian Scientists, and this proved to be a great blessing.
The first healing we had was that of bronchitis, from which the oldest child had suffered for years. Doctors had said the next attack might take her life. I asked the help of a Christian Science practitioner, which was lovingly given. During the night the fever ended, and the child was free. She has never had another attack and has been free even from colds for the past eighteen years.
