Through the ages there have been wise and courageous individuals who have caught glimpses of the Christ, Truth, and have followed Truth honestly and consistently. Moses was such a one. The children of Israel followed the light of his understanding and were brought out of the materialism of Egypt into a higher concept of worship of God as Spirit.
The greatest follower of Christ the world has ever known was Jesus of Nazareth. The Christ-element in this original Christian made him the Way-shower, the promised Messiah, to mankind. He demonstrated the fullness of Christ, the true idea of God. He knew that God is infinite, All; that God is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient divine Mind, Spirit, Love. And he knew that he understood this fact, because he proved it. During his brief ministry, Jesus healed the sick, reformed the sinner, and raised the dead; his works illustrated that the Christ reveals the true nature of man in God's image and likeness.
Mary Baker Eddy discovered Christian Science, the Science of Christ Jesus' healing work, submitted it to broad tests, and found it provable at every point. Devoted students of this Science understand her divine mission, love her Christly character, and obey the God-inspired requirements set forth in her writings. They accept as a cherished opportunity the duty of following Christ as she did. Establishing the Christian Science movement was our Leader's demonstration; perpetuating and promoting it is ours.
