When two older sisters passed on a number of years ago, I was somewhat comforted by the kindly words, "It is God's will." However, a few years later when a brother passed on, these words had no comfort for me whatsoever. I just could not accept them. In fact, I did not believe them any more. I knew that God is right always, but I felt that something must be radically wrong with my religious beliefs.
I read the Bible through twice, seeking truth and comfort, but to no avail. The more I read, the more I saw that I was getting nowhere. I reasoned: God is unchangeable; and the Bible is true, but seemingly it contradicts itself.
Once, when conversing with a friend concerning a situation faced by an individual, I quoted from Proverbs (23:7) this statement referring to a man: "As he thinketh in his heart, so is he."
