CHRISTIAN SCIENCE teaches that a knowledge of divine good transforms human experience. This knowledge leads us out of the beliefs of fear, sin, depravity, sickness, and maladjustment. It comforts, heals, saves, and gives us abundant supply. It is the actual power or animus that brings about better living. Mrs. Eddy tells us in her work "Rudimental Divine Science" (p. 6), "All beauty and goodness are in and of Mind, emanating from God; but when we change the nature of beauty and goodness from Mind to matter, the beauty is marred, through a false conception, and, to the material senses, evil takes the place of good."
The healing and redemptive power of divine good operates in human consciousness where to the uninstructed sense evil seems as real and as actual as good. But this sense of dualism is changed as consciousness accepts the truth of the infinity of good, which Christian Science reveals. It is true that there can be nothing beyond or outside infinite good, nor can evil dwell in good. When we understand these facts, sickness is destroyed and health is demonstrated, fear is cast out, and in its place we find confidence and dominion.
The divine good that heals includes an absolute scientific understanding of the ever-presence of the Christ. The Christ, the individual idea of Truth, excludes error on the basis of the absolute nothingness of anything unlike divine good. The spiritual understanding of good comes only through revelation, which is a constant, transforming activity in thought and makes us better human beings in our progress toward the demonstration of our true sonship with our Father-Mother, God.
