IN "We Knew Mary Baker Eddy," First Series, two sentences are quoted from a letter Mrs. Eddy wrote to one experienced in the practice of Christian Science. They read (p. 34): "God bless you and every day show you a little more of Infinite Love. Just your daily bread, more you will not digest."
As students of Christian Science advance in the study of their religion, the development of joyful patience and perseverance provides for them a more gentle journey toward the kingdom of heaven. Following impulses from Love, God, they are willing to progress day by day, letting God unfold the pathway. They do not try willfully to increase in scientific understanding, but they demonstrate that increased humility expressed by Mrs. Eddy in the verse "To the Big Children" (Poems, p. 69),
"Father-Mother good, lovingly
Thee I seek,—
Patient, meek,
In the way Thou hast,—
Be it slow or fast,
Up to Thee."
