PROGRESS THROUGH AT-ONE-MENT WITH PRINCIPLE

From the November 1960 issue of The Christian Science Journal

MRS. EDDY writes in Science and Health (p. 233): "Every day makes its demands upon us for higher proofs rather than professions of Christian power. These proofs consist solely in the destruction of sin, sickness, and death by the power of Spirit, as Jesus destroyed them. This is an element of progress, and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil."

One of the first steps in the realization of progress is to recognize, accept, and acknowledge man's unity with God as His reflection. This unity is a basic fact in Christian Science. Our Leader states (ibid., pp. 465, 466), "Principle and its idea is one, and this one is God, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent Being, and His reflection is man and the universe."

Our understanding of man's at-one-ment with divine Truth, Life, and Love enables us to reflect God in our daily living. We may be tempted many times to believe that we are separated from good, from health, abundance, joy, companionship, position, home. As we recognize that Mind is One, including God and His idea, man, the belief that we can be alone, alienated from good and without hope or help, is eliminated.
