Before I became interested in Christian Science, I suffered for many years from bronchitis and cardiac asthma. I underwent a great many forms of treatments, but with no success. The doctors said I would have to bear with ill-health, because I would never be well again.
When I had suffered for a number of years from this error, double pneumonia and pleurisy set in. The doctors told my wife that they did not believe I would recover from this illness. However, after some months I recovered from the pneumonia to the extent that I was allowed to get up, but despite the fact that I went away for several months for recuperation, I did not entirely recover.
Then several doctors advised me to give up my work. After some time I decided to do this in the hope that I might find relief; but the error became more severe, and I was unable to lie down.
