In August, 1933, Christian Science was presented to me, and through its influence the course of my life was changed. At that time my home had been broken up. I was feeling the loss of companionship to such an extent that I was in great mental darkness and despair. A sister who had been studying Christian Science came to me in response to my call for help. I asked her if she thought Christian Science could help me. She smiled and said she was just hoping I would want to know about it. Since that time this truth has met all my needs, physically, financially, and spiritually.
Upon leaving, my sister gave me a copy of the Journal and told me where to find in it the names of practitioners who resided in the vicinity in order that I might call one should I need help. When fear began to take possession of my thinking, fear of the future and of my responsibility in rearing a child, as well as fear of being physically unable to hold my position, I picked up the Journal and called one of the three practitioners listed, asking her to come to see me. This she did willingly, although I had never seen or heard of her before.
I shall never cease to be grateful for her patience and love in answering my many questions and for her tenderness in guiding my first steps into a new world of thought. Although there was much to learn and unlearn, my eagerness to have an understanding of Christian Science brought rich rewards.
