Testimonies of Healing

On page 571 of Science and Health by...

From the March 1961 issue of The Christian Science Journal

On page 571 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read, "Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you." I experienced the truth of this statement in Europe during World War II. I came to realize that merely to refrain from hating someone is not enough. I knew that my duty as a Christian Scientist was to love and that in the expression of Love was safety from hate. I knew that everybody was in reality the child of God, no matter how evil he seemed to be.

This awakening to the realization of the universality of Love brought wonderful results. I was the president of a large factory producing compulsorily for the enemy that had taken over our country. One day government officials visited us and said they had reason to believe there was sabotage going on in the factory. I was greatly disturbed. While they were talking to the managers, I ran in panic to a quiet place for inspiration and guidance from God.

On my way angel thoughts came to me. I realized that God's children, His perfect, spiritual ideas, cannot harm each other. Their purpose and their only capacity is to love, and they dwell in the kingdom of God under the reign of Love. This conviction was so strong that immediately all fear left me and was replaced with great peace. When I returned, the men informed me with joy that the officers had dropped the whole matter and had left the factory.
