IN ACTIVE SERVICE

From the January 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In these days when there are "wars and rumours of wars" (Mark 13:7), it is comforting to pause and think of the great army of Christian Scientists, dedicated to the service of God and to the bringing of healing, redemption, and peace to their fellowmen. All mankind is longing for an established and permanent peace. Only spiritual understanding of our loving Father-Mother God and of man's inseparability from Him can bring peace and security to weary and tormented mortals.

It is cause for the greatest rejoicing and thanksgiving that we live in an age in which the complete and final revelation of Truth has come to lead mankind out of the fruitless round of material ways into the glorious realm of Spirit, where in reality all dwell in security and freedom. This revelation has come to us through the discovery of Christian Science by Mary Baker Eddy.

Everyone who has joined the Church of Christ, Scientist, has surely taken on the status of an enlisted soldier, always on active duty in an army whose victory is assured, for, as Mrs. Eddy says on page 380 of Science and Health, "Truth is always the victor."
