In "Miscellaneous Writings," Mrs. Eddy asks (p. 176): "Are we duly aware of our own great opportunities and responsibilities? Are we prepared to meet and improve them, to act up to the acme of divine energy wherewith we are armored?"
These arresting questions challenge us to appraise the thoughts and intents of the heart. Let us ask ourselves: Am I unaware of, and thus unprepared for, my present opportunity to spiritualize my thoughts and desires? Or am I aware of it and ready to assume my responsibility by knowing God as Spirit and knowing man as God's likeness—perfect—not in the future but right now?
God's ever-presence gives us the ever-present opportunity to manifest His love by expressing kindness, understanding, and helpfulness to all with whom we come in contact. Our responsibility to "do good unto all men" is advocated by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Galatians (6:10), "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
