Boundless gratitude for God's grace, in that He has brought Christian Science to me and with it the understanding that man is His image and likeness, prompts me to relate a healing which took place more than sixteen years ago.
I met with an accident. Although I was suffering severe pain, I got up and continued on my way to the office. During the long walk there, knowing that an idea of God cannot suffer an injury, I realized God's presence. When I took my place at work I had recovered, except for a pain in my left leg. I could not avoid dragging it, and, in the presence of a co-worker, my supervisor inquired about the cause. In a few words I told her what had taken place, adding, "I shall soon be all right."
As the morning progressed we became very busy, and, in what to me seemed an impatient tone of voice, my co-worker asked me to go and get something quickly. Error assailed me violently with the plausible argument, "She knows that I am in pain, and yet she is so unkind."
