When Christian Science was first presented to me by my wife, I could not see how it could possibly heal one of sickness or any physical difficulty. But after I had treatment from a practitioner for a severe case of food poisoning and was healed instantly, and a short time later was healed instantly of an ulcerated tooth, I knew that Science healed. And I realized it was only my ignorance of God and my lack of understanding of this religion that kept me from seeing how it healed.
So I knew I must study the Bible, together with the Christian Science textbook by Mrs. Eddy, and her other writings, and read the Christian Science periodicals, to gain an understanding of the healing Principle, God. I purchased all Mrs. Eddy's writings, subscribed for the periodicals, and read and studied faithfully.
Now, more than thirty years later, through the study and application of Science, I am grateful to say I have been healed of chills and fever and of chronic colds to which I had been subject all my life. I was also healed of a very severe kidney trouble from which I had suffered many years. I was healed of the liquor and tobacco habits, of many false traits of character, and of other physical difficulties.
