My gratitude for Christian Science grows daily, and I have had nearly a half century to know and experience the healing power of this religion, discovered and founded by Mrs. Eddy. It was my privilege as a very young child to begin attending a Christian Science Sunday School. Here I learned the invaluable truths of God's love for His children and of His protection and guidance which we may experience when we turn to Him sincerely seeking.
About a year after my mother became a student of Christian Science she and I became ill with smallpox. Mother was obedient to the legal requirements regarding contagious diseases but insisted on having only Christian Science help. Although the quarantine was long, and the illness severe, each mortal law was met and overcome by God's omnipotence.
As Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, pp. 380, 381), "Every law of matter or the body, supposed to govern man, is rendered null and void by the law of Life, God." Neither my mother nor I was marked by the disease. For some time after I returned to school, I stopped by the home of a practitioner twice a week. Each treatment gave me renewed strength until the healing was complete.
