"Whither shall I go . . . ?"

From the January 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Traveling can be a happy and inspiring experience to one who has learned to cherish harmonious thinking and to understand the safety of God's beloved child. Business trips can be transformed from the routine and repetitive into happy and interesting experiences, and a journey, whatever its purpose, need never be looked upon as hazardous or dull when one approaches it from the correct standpoint.

Man is not a mortal, tossed to and fro by the varying effects of chance and calamity. Christian Science teaches that man, the image and likeness of God, is always cared for by his omnipotent creator. Evil and discord, though they may seem to exist in the human realm, are in reality no part of God's creation. Understanding this, we can progressively refute manifestations of evil when they seem to occur; and as we conscientiously do this, we shall see such discords yield to Truth and disappear.

A sense of safety when traveling can be gained by our realizing the omnipresence of divine Love. Speaking of God and knowing that He is everywhere, the Psalmist sang, "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?"Ps. 139:7; Wherever we go, we are in the presence of omnipotent Love, in the atmosphere of Spirit, enfolded in God's power, supported by His might. Whether we be in a ship, a plane, or any other form of transport, our understanding of God's allness can help to assure our safety. Should we be faced with difficulty or danger, our acknowledgment that harmony is present can aid in bringing more harmonious human conditions into evidence.
