Testimonies of Healing

Not having found satisfactory answers...

From the August 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Not having found satisfactory answers to many questions and problems through membership and active participation in an orthodox Protestant church, I spent a number of years away from church and investigated other faiths. Unfavorable conditions of health and disposition relating back to childhood and supposedly prenatal in origin had neither been healed nor alleviated through the prayers of my church or through my own efforts to find God's presence, although I sought Him diligently.

However, there came a time when I was led further to read and study the Bible as well as numerous books and pamphlets offering different approaches to God. It was this experience that brought Christian Science to me. One of these books was called Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I did extensive reading in it and shortly concluded any further search. I was sure I had found the pearl of great price.

Before long I had an opportunity to test this newfound teaching. I felt that whatever I accepted would need to be supported by and fulfill the truths of the Bible. I came down suddenly one night with influenza. It was imperative that I be present and able to carry on my work in a social center the next evening. In Hebrews I had read (4:12), "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword." Would Christian Science be able to demonstrate the truth of this Biblical statement? I felt surely it would!
