Healing Incendiary Feelings

From the September 1968 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Throughout the centuries, before and after the star in the East heralded Christ Jesus' birth, powerful spiritual facts concerning God and man's eternal unity with Him have, like mental thunderbolts, been stirring dormant human consciousness to transform it from a material to a spiritual basis.

The chemicalization we are witnessing today is the direct result of the mortal, or carnal, mind's age-old resistance to this healthy overturning. Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health, "What I term chemicalization is the upheaval produced when immortal Truth is destroying erroneous mortal belief."Science and Health, p. 401;

One phase of the upheaval presently in evidence is an intense partisanship, a tendency to incendiary attack on those who oppose one's personal viewpoint, especially when they are in positions of authority. Under the pretext of exposing evil's hidden purposes, it attempts to undermine men's confidence in church, state, and in each other.
