My introduction to Christian Science...

From the September 1968 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My introduction to Christian Science came while I was attending a teachers college. One of my subjects was music, and the custom of the Christian Science Society in the town was to call the music department at the college when a need arose for someone to serve as soloist. I was chosen for this work, but first I attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. I loved the readings from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I knew that I had found something very precious and that I would never let it go.

For some time a vertebra low in my spine had been causing great suffering by slipping out of place. A large lump would come on my back. I had not slept on my back for a long time. Then I asked a Christian Science practitioner to give me treatment. The next morning I awoke flat on my back, with no pain, and found the lump was gone. I was healed overnight.

Our young son started attending the Christian Science Sunday School, and I became a branch church member and a member of The Mother Church. I served many years as soloist in Christian Science churches. Class instruction was made possible, for which I am humbly grateful.
