Mrs. Eddy states toward the bottom of page 167 of Science and Health, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." Students of Christian Science who have faced and accepted an opportunity to rely on God radically for a healing find it the worthiest of challenges and the greatest of blessings. It is with profound gratitude and joy that I relate a healing achieved only through radical reliance on God.
Nearly three years ago, when walking in heavily fallen snow to an appointment, I was struck by an automobile. When I ascertained that either the left thigh or hip bone was broken, I knew I'd have to decide whether to go to a doctor or hospital or to my home and have Christian Science treatment. A moment's meditation revealed a deep, earnest desire to turn only to God, and a clear assurance that I was ready to do just that. I did so, and the healing was complete. I walk freely, and can run or dance whenever I wish.
Two observations stand out above the many I could make about that healing. First, if one actually turns in radical reliance to God, He will completely and lovingly sustain that desire and endeavor and not allow anything to stand in opposition to it.
