One's attitude toward death is a measure of his spiritual maturity. If he is wise, he does not try to ignore it; neither does he fear it nor look upon it as a friend. It is an enemy, but an enemy to be overcome— "the last enemy that shall be destroyed,"I Cor. 15:26; as Paul writes in I Corinthians.
Christ Jesus gave convincing proofs that death can indeed be destroyed. He raised from the dead the son of the widow of Nain, Jairus' daughter, and his friend Lazarus. His crowning achievement was his victory over death and materiality in his own experience. As our Way-shower, Jesus expected us to follow his example. He said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." John 14:12;
Two of Jesus' followers proved that the ability to overcome death was not confined to the Master. In the book of Acts we read of Peter restoring Dorcas to life and of Paul doing the same for Eutychus. See Acts 9:36— 42; 20:9-12;
