My first testimony was published in the Christian Science Sentinel of May 25, 1968. Again I wish to express my gratitude to God for the healing Christ and for Christ Jesus' comforting assurance in Luke (12:32), "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." I have found many times that when fear is overcome we truly awake to God's gift and know the kingdom at hand in healing, comfort, supply, peace, and joy.
A short time after I had been introduced to Christian Science by the young girl who later became my daughter-in-law, I witnessed my first instantaneous healing through the overcoming of fear. One night in January I came home from work to find my daughter, then a sophomore in high school, lying in bed in much pain. I was very fearful because she had the symptoms of appendicitis. Once before she had had an attack. A doctor then warned me that should she have another one it would be necessary to operate on her at once. Her brother, when he was nine, had had a long illness with this same condition under medical care.
My daughter knew I had been studying Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and seemed interested, so I asked her what she wanted me to do—call our family doctor or a Christian Science practitioner. She replied, "I don't care what you do just so you do something quickly."
