Healing in the sickroom through unity with the one Mind

From the November 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There are times in the practice of spiritual healing when two or more Christian Scientists work together in helping another to regain health. One is a Christian Science practitioner, and one—or more, if the patient is requiring round-the-clock care—is a Christian Science nurse.

In such a case, if the practitioner and the nurse are listed in The Christian Science Journal, they are well-trained, skilled, experienced, dedicated people. This listing is a recognition by The Mother Church that they are representative, capable Christian Scientists. And their professional work is carried out under the authority of Mrs. Eddy's Manual of The Mother Church, and in accordance with its discipline.

Both practitioners and nurses are required to maintain the highest standards of morality and spirituality, wisdom and responsibility, as outlined in the By-Laws of that important book. Above all, they know that as they bear witness to man's unbreakable unity with the divine Mind, healing will quickly result. While doing this, they respect each others' status and activities, and cooperate in full trust in Truth and Love. The patient, who is also trusting God for healing and striving for the demonstration of unity with the one Mind, will be restored to a normal state of freedom, independence, and activity through the operation of divine law.
