Poems

To a Christian Science nurse

From the November 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christly assurance bringing needed light
to fear-filled consciousness,
you are much/oh so much/more
than only soothing hands could be,

for you start not with what is wrong
but what is right
with me.

Where else could I be seen—
(right in the midst of error's dream!)
to be what I am—
Soul-circumferenced, wholesome man.

Love's own presence
fills your thought of me,
and in your sight
I have no fear to be
misunderstood/mis-seen.

I take comfort in this fact.

And in this light
I am free from error's dream,
upheld,
and blessed.
